Exception occured when accessing third party updates in Patch Manager

Overview

After a VM host maintenance where Patch Manager and the WSUS servers (both running on the same host) are shut down and rebooted, the following error is displayed when accessing the Third Party Updates dashboard in the Patch Manager Console:

Environment

  • Patch Manager 2.1.3
  • WSUS

Resolution

  1. Verify that EWDGS is running and the SQL instance hosting the EminentWare DB is up and the credentials correct.
  2. Create a back up of the WSUS certificates.
  3. Delete duplicate and mismatching WSUS certificates. 
  4. Run the Patch Manager configuration wizard as an administrator and repair Patch Manager services.
