Error when scheduling Update Management with rules tasks


When you schedule Update Management with rules tasks, the following error message displays:

The scope resolution task failed to execute. Scope Type not implemented for Scope Analyzer. 


Patch Manager 2.1 and later


The computers or containers selected in the task caused the scope to fail.


  1. Double click the error to display the error dialog box.
    Note the timestamp of when the task was created. In this example, the time is 3:42 PM.
  2. Expand Administration and Reporting and select Scheduled Tasks.
  3. Make sure the computers or containers are selected for the task by using the time stamp from step 1.
    In this example, the tasks using the time stamp from step 1 did not have any selected computers or containers, which caused the scope failure.
  4. Modify or recreate a task to include computers / containers.
