Error when publishing Windows updates for a computer group

When you run an Update Management task to publish Microsoft Windows updates for a computer group, the following error displays:

Exception Details
Computer: Application Server (yourWSUSServer)
Object: scope
Source: Upload Transactions Failed
The Configuration Management Task failed to create the task transactions in the task results table. Reason: Execution Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.   • Patch Manager 2.1.2
  • WSUS 3.0

Issues on the WSUS or MSSQL service.


  1. Confirm that the WSUS certificates are part of the Trusted root and Trusted Publishers store on the Patch Manager server. 
  2. Restart the following services:
    • EminentWare Data Grid
    • WSUS 
    • WSUS Certificate 
  3. Select the updates you were attempting to publish.
  4. Run the Update Management wizard.
