Error when approving a third-party update

Overview

When you run Patch Manager and approve a third-party update, the following error displays:

Unable to Create the Computer group tree with approval information.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Environment

All Patch Manager versions

Cause 

Internal issue with the Patch Manager server

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Patch Manager Console.
  2. In the navigation pane, expand Administration and Reporting and select Software Publishing. 
  3. In the Actions pane, click Synchronize Now.

If the error returns, clear the cache in Patch Manager Admin Console
