Database validation error when installing Patch Manager

Updated July 23, 2018

When you install Patch Manager, the following database error displays in the Patch Manager Configuration Wizard:

Database Validation Failed! Database presented on the selected instance is used
for another installation of Patch Manager. Please select different SQL instance.

  • Multiple instances of MS SQL Server
  • All Patch Manager versions

This error is caused by one of the following:

  • A previous failed Patch Manager installation exists on the server.
  • The selected SQL instance has an EminentWare database from a previous installation.

Perform one of the following procedures:

  • For new installations, remove the EminentWare database and run the installer again.
  • Select a different SQL instance that does not have an installed EminentWare database. You can accomplish this task in multiple Patch Manager installation environments using Primary Application Servers (PAS) and Automation Servers.
