Create a custom Software Publishing group in Patch Manager

Table of contents

Updated July 9, 2018

Overview

This article explains how to create a specific Software Publishing group that contains software packages for a specific environment.

Environment

All Patch Manager versions

Steps

Use caution when performing custom changes that can make Patch Manager look easier to navigate. This process may make it more confusing because of the non-standard configuration.

  1. Log in to the Patch Manager Administrator Console as an administrator.
  2. In the navigation pane, maximize Administration and Reporting > Software Publishing
  3. Select a package vendor (such as SolarWinds, Inc. Packages).
  4. In the center pane, select the targeted package.
  5. Right-click the package and select Duplicate.
  6. Right-click the duplicated package and select Edit.
  7. Click the Vendor drop-down menu, enter a unique name that is not listed in the Software Publishing list, and then click Next.
  8. Complete the wizard.
  9. Under Software Publishing, select a package group that contains the copied software package.
