When you use Patch Manager with ConfigMgr 2007, you have the option to add the Patch Manager MMC snap-in to the ConfigMgr console. This places the Patch Manager MMC components as child nodes of the ConfigMgr MMC in a single console window.

Note:  You must load a different runtime to add Patch Manager versions 1.85 and later to ConfigMgr 2007.

Before you begin:

  • Install the Patch Manager console on the computer running the ConfigMgr console.

To add the Patch Manager MMC snap-in to the ConfigMgr console (v1.80 and earlier):

  1. Open the ConfigMgr console in Author mode.
  2. Click the File menu, and then select Add/Remove Snap-in.
  3. In the Add or Remove Snap-ins dialog, click Advanced.
  4. In the Advanced dialog, enable the option, Allow changing the parent snap-in, and then click OK.
  5. Back in the Add or Remove Snap-ins dialog, set the Parent Node menu to the ConfigMgr snap-in.
  6. Add the Patch Manager snap-in as a child node, and then click OK.
  7. Click the File menu, and then select Save or Save As, as appropriate.

To load the CLR4.0 runtime (v1.85 and later):

  1. Open a command prompt with administrative privileges.
  2. Set a system variable to load the CLR4.0 runtime by entering the following:

    setx COMPLUS_Version v4.0.30319 /M

  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Follow instructions to add the Patch Manager MMC snap-in to the console.
