Error when running an inventory task in a domain

Overview

When Patch Manager connects to a domain to run a scheduled inventory task, the following message displays in the console: 

 

The scope resolution task failed to execute. Exception occurred at 1xxxx: Unable to 
connect to Active Directory (ADNAME). No Domain Controllers responded to the request. 
Unable to connect to the resource using the account: account Reason: Unable to connect 
to Active Directory (ADNAME). No Domain Controllers responded to the request.

Environment

Patch Manager 2.1.x

Cause 

The NetBIOS name is different than the Domain NT-Flat name identified in the Managed Resource.

Resolution

  1. Open a command prompt on the Patch Manager server.
  2. Execute:

    whoami

    The NetBIOS name of your domain is displayed.

  3. Log in to the Patch Manager Admin Console.
  4. In the navigation pane, expand Patch Manager System Configuration > Management Groups and select Managed Enterprise.
  5. In the Actions Pane, click the Management Group Wizard.
  6. In the Name field, enter the NetBIOS name identified from the command, then type the FQDN.
  7. Click Resolve.
  8. Click Add Domain/Workgroup and then complete the wizard.

    To remove the inaccurate entry, select the entry and click Remove.

  9. Complete the wizard. 
  10. Reschedule your inventory.
    1. In the center pane, right-click the domain and click Schedule Inventory.

    2. Complete the Schedule wizard, and click OK.

If the error continues to display in the console, reschedule the inventory task
