Error when approving updates in Patch Manager

When you approve updates in the Patch Manager Admin Console, the following error displays: 

Unable to parse approve update item key


All Patch Manager versions


  • This error is typically limited to one WSUS server
  • May be caused by a corrupt WSUS record in the database.  


If this issue affects multiple servers, contact Technical Support.

  1. Log in to the Patch Manager Admin Console.
  2. Expand Enterprise and select Update Services.
  3. Select the WSUS server with the error.
  4. In the Actions pane, click Delete. 
  5. In the Actions pane, click Add or Configure WSUS Server.
  6. Complete the wizard to install a new WSUS server.
