Overview

This article describes the issue when you receive the following error message:

Exception occurred at 4/5/2016 8:22:28 PM: The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not found.
WSUSConnection:: Unable to connect to the WSUS server (YOURWSUS) using the account: domain\username
The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not found.

Environment

Patch Manager 2.1+

Cause 

This issue occurs when the PM configured to communicate to WSUS via the wrong port.

Resolution

  1. Open the PM Console.
  2. Go to Enterprise > Update Services.
  3. Verify in the Port field which port is being used is the right one:
    1. For WSUS on >2012 it defaults to port 8530 (HTTP)
    2. For WSUS on <=2008r2 it defaults to port 80 (HTTP)
