Eminentware Data Grid Service using high CPU and memory

When you install an Automation Server role on a WSUS server, the Eminentware Datagrid Service running on the server using high CPU and memory. 

The same issue has also been noticed on a Primary Application Server where UAC and Sophon AV are enabled in some cases.


  • 2.1 and above
  • WSUS
  • Multiple Automation Servers


  1. The Automation Server may not have been provisioned correctly. 
  2. PM was installed without disabling UAC and Sophos AV. Which was causing some buffer overflow and File lock events for certain EWDGS related DLL's


Solution 1:

Make sure the Automation Server role is provisioned correctly. See Re-provision an Automation Server for details. 


Solution 2 (On PAS):

  1. On the Primary Application Server, disable Sophos AV and UAC controls
  2. Reboot
  3. Repair PM via Add/Remove programs
  4. Run the Patch manager configuration wizard
  5. Enable back Sophos and UAC and reboot the server if required
