Downloading Patch Manager packages generates an error


When you download a Patch Manager package, the download fails and displays the following error: 

The operation has timed out.

The timeout is related to a proxy setting issue.


Verify that the Package Download Proxy settings are in place.

The package download proxy settings are different from the catalog download proxy settings.

To configure the proxy settings:

  1. Log in to Patch Manager as an administrator.
  2. Expand Patch Manager System Configuration > Patch Manager Servers in the Patch Manager menu.
  3. Select Application Servers.
  4. Select the application server in the center pane. 
  5. Click the Application Server Settings tab.
  6. In the tab window, enter the correct proxy settings.

If the issue persists:

  1. Collect the logs for further investigation.
  2. Set up packet capturing so that we also have packet capture logs.
    For the Patch Manager debug logs, see Enable logging for Patch Manager Primary Application Server (PAS). Set the Logging to Verbose, then recreate the issue twice.
  3. Contact the SolarWinds Technical Support Team with all the logs.
