Deploy the latest HP System Management Homepage using Patch Manager

Overview

When you deploy the latest Hewlett Packard (HP) System Management homepage with Patch Manager, you discover that the latest Hewlett Packard Proliant Servers Package is over two years old. If you modify the 7.1.1.1 package for the new version, the update fails and returns a "Not Applicable" message on most servers.

Environment

  • HP System Management
  • All Patch Manager versions

Cause

The Hewlett Packard Server Updates Catalog stopped receiving updates in mid-2012.

The catalog content is provided by HP and SolarWinds has no control or involvement in the content included with the catalog. Contact HP for information regarding the newer version of ProLiant Server packages for the HP Server catalog.

Workaround

Add the latest Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) catalog in Patch Manager.

  1. Log in to Patch Manager as an administrator.
  2. In the navigation pane, expand Administration and Reporting and select Software Publishing.
  3. Click Synchronization Settings .
  4. In the Third Party Updates Options window, click the Other Catalogs tab.
  5. Add the catalog.
    1. Click Add Catalog.
    2. In the Catalog Path field, enter:
      ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/puc/hppuc.cab
    3. In the Publisher field, enter Hewlett Packard.
    4. In the Name field, enter HP ProLiant Update Packs
  6. Click OK.
  7. In the Actions pane, click Synchronize Now.
Patch Manager synchronizes the latest Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) catalog, which should contain the latest HP System Management Homepage and the latest drivers and firmware.
