Configure Patch Manager to use a proxy for content downloads

Download of Patch Manager of package fails. An error message similar to the following appears:

The operation has timed out.


Patch Manager 2.0


The timeout is related to a proxy setting issue.


Verify that the Package Download Proxy settings are in place.

Note: Package download proxy settings are different to the catalog download proxy settings.

Steps for configuring the proxy settings:

  1. Go to Patch Manager.
  2. Locate and expand Patch Manager System Configuration.
  3. Locate and expand Patch Manager Servers.
  4. Click Application Servers.
  5. Click on the correct application server, and the settings will appear in the window below it.
  6. Click the Application Server Settings tab. The proxy settings information will appear.
  7. Fill these out accordingly with the correct proxy settings.


If the issue still persists, collect logs for further investigation.

Set up packet capturing so that we also have packet capture logs.

For the Patch Manager debug logs, see Enable logging for Patch Manager Primary Application Server (PAS). Set the Logging to Verbose, then recreate the issue twice.

Then contact the SolarWinds Technical Support Team with all the logs.
