Change the account or password used for the EminentWare Data Grid Server Service

Overview

During initial setup, Patch Manager creates a local service account that it uses to start the EminentWare Data Grid Server service unless you specified a different account in the installation wizard. If you choose to change the password or account used to start the EminentWare Data Grid Server service, complete the following procedure to ensure the service starts after making the change.

Steps

  1. Close the Patch Manager/EminentWare console.
  2. Stop the EminentWare Data Grid Server service.
  3. Clear the MEKey and MPKey strings in the Registry:
    1. Open the Registry Editor (regedit).
    2. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EminentWare\Data Grid Service\Roles\Application and select Data.
    3. Select MEKey, and then click Edit > Modify.
    4. Clear the Value data field, and then click OK.
    5. Repeat step c and step d for the MPKey string. 
  4. If you are changing the account that starts the EminentWare Data Grid Server service, verify that the new account is listed in the Log on as a service Properties view in Local Security Policy.
  5. Change the password or account used to start the EminentWare Data Grid Server service.
    1. In the Services window, select EminentWare Data Grid Server service and click Action > Properties.
    2. Click the Log On tab.
    3. Make the necessary changes, and then click OK.
  6. Start the EminentWare Data Grid Server service.
  7. Open the Patch Manager console.
  8. Expand EminentWare System Configuration and click Security and User Management.
  9. Click the Credentials tab.
  10. If you changed the password for the account used to start the EminentWare Data Grid Server service, update the Credential for the account:
    1. Select the existing Credential, and then click Change Password in the Actions pane. 
    2. Enter and confirm the new password, and then click Save.
  11. If you changed the account used to start the EminentWare Data Grid Server service, add a new Credential for the account:
    1. Click Add Credential in the Actions pane.
    2. Enter the User name as described in the Add User dialog.
    3. Enter and confirm the Password, and then click Save.
  12. If you set up email notifications, change the password stored for that task.
    1. Expand EminentWare System Configuration > EminentWare Servers > Application Servers, and then select the Application Server.
    2. Click the Application Server Settings tab, and then select the Email Configuration: SMTP Server logon user password checkbox.
    3. Click the Action menu, and then select Modify Setting.
    4. Enter the new password, and then click OK.
  13. If you set a password in Proxy Settings for Software Publishing:
    1. Select Software Publishing in the Navigation pane.
    2. Click Synchronization Settings in the Actions pane, and then click the Proxy Settings tab.
    3. Update the password, and then click OK.
  14. If you’ve set a proxy password for your Application Servers:
    1. Expand EminentWare System Configuration > EminentWare Servers > Application Servers, and then select the Application Server.
    2. Click the Application Server Settings tab, and then select the Password setting.
    3. Click the Action menu, and then select Modify Setting.
    4. Enter the new password, and then click OK.
