Access Denied errors during Web Console setup

Overview

When you install the SolarWinds Patch Manager Web Console or access deployment data in the SolarWinds Patch Manager Admin Console, you may receive errors stating that access is denied or the application cannot validate your credentials. When you test the connection to your Primary Application Server from the installer, the test fails even though your information is valid.

Environment

  • All Patch Manager versions

Cause

The Administrator account does not have the correct permissions.

Resolution

Modify the User Account Control settings on the SolarWinds Patch Manager server.

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Patch Manager server as an administrator.
  2. Open the Control Panel and select Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy.
  3. Expand Local Policies and select Security Options.
  4. Disable the following settings:
    • User Account Control: Admin Approval Mode for the Built-in Administrator account.
This setting applies to the local administrator.
    • User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode.
This setting applies to all users in the Administrators group.
  5. Close Local Security Policy.
