This release of SolarWinds Orion Platform provides significant feature enhancements to your Performance Analysis dashboards to provide more tools for troubleshooting issues in your environment from data collected by your SolarWinds Orion solution.

Minimum supported Orion module versions

These new features are available for the following product versions when running on Orion Platform version 2017.3:

  • NPM 12.2
  • SAM 6.5
  • VMAN 8.0
  • NTA 4.2.3
  • SRM 6.5
  • WPM 2.2.1
  • EOC 2.0
  • NCM 7.7
  • VNQM 4.4.1
  • DPAIM 11.1 (DPA integrated with the Orion Platform)

Real-Time Polling

Metrics with rocket ships next to them, such as CPU utilization, can be polled in one second intervals for a 10 minute window. Both real-time and regular metrics can be part of any project, but you are limited to 10 real-time pollable metrics per project. After you stop Real-Time Polling, metrics are polled at the accelerated pace for an additional two minutes.

Restrict who can turn Real-Time Polling on and off by editing their account settings. Any user with a link to an analysis project can view it, though account limitations for nodes apply to the content of the project.

View the data behind the charts

Selected metrics display the data that goes into making the chart at a particular point in time.

Click and drag on a chart to select a time frame. The Data Explorer opens automatically, or you can use the inspector menu to open the Data Explorer.

Expand the recorded data points for more information and links to relevant parts of the application.

Open projects from entities' Details views

When you're already looking at an entity with an issue, click on Performance Analyzer in the Management resource to open an analysis project with key metrics already added.

Drag & drop entities on the charts

Add key metrics for an entity by dragging and dropping the entity directly on an analysis project. If you're adding an entity to a project that already contains charts, add the entity to a section that says "Add Template". Continue to add or remove metrics to troubleshoot an issue in your environment. Metrics added to the chart depend on the entity added.

Additional metrics

PerfStack has increased the supported metrics to include:

  • Syslog
  • SNMP Traps
  • Universal Device Pollers
  • Network Insight for F5
  • Network Insight for ASA
  • VNQM IPSLA Operations
  • NCM Configuration Changes
  • SAM Multi-Value Script Monitors
    • Windows Script Monitor
    • PowerShell Script Monitor
    • Linux/Unix Script Monitor
    • Nagios Script Monitor

Additional features

The improved PerfStack also has the following new features:

  • Minimize other parts of the application and display only the charts with Full Screen Mode
  • Export data from the project to Excel
  • Copy project URLs to the clipboard with the Share button
