Install local help files

  1. Download the offline help files archive for your Orion Platform product to the Orion server.

    SolarWinds recommends that you download and install the NPM local help files to resolve help links for common components and resources. When installing help for multiple Orion Platform products, follow this procedure for the first product. For the next products, just download and extract the archive to C:\inetpub\SolarWinds.

  2. Extract the contents of the .zip file to C:\inetpub\SolarWinds.
  3. Copy the bin folder from C:\inetpub\SolarWinds\bin into C:\inetpub\SolarWinds\documentation\bin.

    If the bin folder contains the files "App_Code.dll" and "App_Code.compiled", delete the files from C:\inetpub\SolarWinds\documentation\bin.

  4. Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  5. Expand Sites > SolarWinds NetPerfMon, and select the \documentation folder.
  6. Right-click on the folder and convert it to an application.IIS_offlineHelp.png
  7. Log in to the SolarWinds Web Console as an administrator.
  8. Click Settings > Web Console Settings, and then change the "Help Server" to http://localhost or the location of your Web Console.

    If you configured Orion Web Console to use a port other than 80, specify the port in "Help Server". For example for port 8787, enter http://localhost:8787.

Known Issues

  • Some help links, such as those in NetPath and High Availability, do not support offline help.
