Mute Alerts do not clear active alerts on a node

Table of contents

Updated September 13, 2017

Overview

The mute alert feature, which allows one to mute all alerts for a node, does not clear existing alerts on a node. This is the designed behavior.

Environment

  • Orion Platform version 2017.1 and newer

Detail

The mute alert feature, which allows one to mute all alerts for a node, is available from the Manage Nodes page.

If there is an active alert when the mute alert is issued on the node, the alert will still be active after the resume alert is issued for the node.

If the alert condition was triggered prior to the mute alert, and the reset action occurs during the time period of the mute alert, the reset actions will still fire.

In other words, mute alerts stop new alerts from being activated. However mute alerts do not stop reset actions on an active alert.
