Updated May 10, 2017

Overview

This article provides information on the issue where the website configuration fails with the following error:

Website configuration failed:

Access to path "C:\Program Files x86\Solarwinds\Orion\Xxxxxxxx.dll" is denied.

Environment

All NPM versions

Resolution(s)

A.

1. Go to Task Manager on the Orion Server.
2. Find the Agent and the DPI services, and then click End Task (Open Orion Service Manager and Stop Agent service, **Do not disable the service**, only stop the service)

3. Goto IIS Manager, on the server tab, on the right side under Manage Server, click stop

4. Re-run the config wizard which prompts to start IIS and select Yes, if that doesn't resolve, reboot the server.

5. Re-run the configuration wizard.

B.

All other users need to be logged out and all SolarWinds applications need to be closed:

  1. Open Task Manager.
  2. Go to the Users tab.
  3. Log out any other users other than the account currently being used.
  4. Make sure that no other Solarwinds applications are running (Report Writer etc..).
  5. Run the Configuration Wizard.

C.1 . In some cases, the SoalrwindsNetPerfmon  website can failed to shut down during the wizards run and also throw this error.  Make sure all service are stopped, THEN re run the wizard
