Unable to discover nodes using SNMPv3

Updated August 1, 2018

When you try to add or discover an SNMPv3 node in an Orion Platform product running on Orion Platform 2018.2 or earlier, the process fails.

When you check the DiscoveryEngine.log file, the file includes the following error:

Error on DiscoveryEngine Log:
2018-07-20 14:02:54,095 [69] ERROR Main - (null) AES Error: Not able to load OpenSSL library from path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SolarWinds\OpenSSL\x86\libeay32.dll into process.
2018-07-20 14:02:54,095 [69] ERROR Main - (null) Unable to encrypt PDU with AES

This issue is not limited to adding or discovering nodes, but may also be an issue with SNMPv3.

  • Orion Platform 2018.2 with Hotfix 3 or earlier

This issue was resolved in Orion Platform 2018.1 Hotfix 4.

Upgrade to a version of your product that consumes Orion Platform 2018.2 Hotfix 4 or later. See the Orion Platform release notes
