The SQL user account password is not valid when using windows authentication to connect Orion database

Overview

This article provides brief information and a resolution to the issue when a SQL user account password is not valid when using Windows Authentication to connect to the Orion Database. 

 

Selecting Windows authentication to connect to the SQL Server in order to use the Windows Authentication and change this in the Configuration Wizard. 

 

 

You are able to connect with SQL and see the Orion DB with the Windows user account.

 

 

However,  using the Database Account fails with the following error: 

The SQL user account password is not valid 

Specify the SQL Server account for Orion.

 

Environment

NPM version 11 through 12.1.

NPM 12.2 allows use of Windows accounts to access the database.

 

Cause 

This type of Windows authentication is not supported by Orion as it could cause issues in the features with the services while the password for the account might be changed therefore its not supported by default . 

 

Resolution

Use Some SQL account from the drop down list in order complete the configuration wizard.
