Overview

SolarWinds Orion Module Engine service is stopping or ceasing for a time.

Environment

  • NPM 11.x

Cause

Scheduled snapshot job of the SQL server was causing the following error in Orion:

The SolarWinds Orion Module Engine service terminated unexpectedly.

It has done this 2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

Resolution

Stop the Orion services before the snapshot job starts.

You can create a script that runs on the Orion server to stop the services for x amount of time and restart the services later providing enough time for the SQL snapshot to be completed without affecting the Orion server.
