Short Description Field In Service Now Alert Actions Is Not Free Text

Overview

On some users' Orions, the "Create Service Now Incident" action has the "short description" as a drop-down, instead of as a free text box.

 

Environment

  • Orion 2016.1 and above

 

Cause 

This is a known issue and development is exploring a fix from Solarwinds; enter a JIRA case for this issue if you encounter it.  However, the customer can take steps in Service Now that will work around the issue:

 

 

 

Resolution

 

The workaround involves setting the affected field's Choice List Specification to Suggestion in Service Now.
 

  1. Navigate to affected field's properties. 
  2. Change Choice to Suggestion
