Overview

This article describes how to set a blank password for a user account for the Orion Web Console. It also enables the account if it was previously disabled.

Environment

  • Orion Platform 2013.1 up to Core 2017.3

Steps

The steps cause permanent changes to the database. Back up the database before you follow the instructions.

  1. Open the Orion database in Orion Database Manager or SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Run the following query to reset the password for a user to blank.
    In the query code, replace USER-NAME with the actual user name. The query also enables the user account.
UPDATE [Accounts]
SET [AccountEnabled] = 'Y',
    [PasswordHash]='/+PA4Zck3arkLA7iwWIugnAEoq4ocRsYjF7lzgQWvJc+pepPz2a5z/L1Pz3c366Y/CasJIa7enKFDPJCWNiKRg=='
WHERE [AccountID]='USER-NAME'

The user can now log in to the Orion Web Console using the user name and a blank password.
