Overview

When you rename the system hosting your Orion Platform installation, run a script that replaces the old server name in the SolarWinds Orion database with the new name.

Environment

  • Orion Platform 2016.2 and later
  • All versions of Windows

 Steps

  1. On the computer hosting your Orion Platform installation, stop all SolarWinds Orion services using the Orion Service Manager.
  2. Rename your system. Do not reboot the computer yet.
  3. Open the Database Manager, and run one of the migration scripts to update the references to the old server name in the database with the new name

If your products use Orion Platform 2016.2-2017.1, you also need to move the license store by running migration.exe /promote.

  4. Reboot the computer.

You have renamed the computer hosting your polling engine.
