Regular expressions to filter traps in the Orion Trap Viewer

Table of contents

Updated August 1, 2016

This article discusses the issue where validated .NET RegEx does not work when using regular expressions to identify or filter trap rules.

All Orion Core versions

When using a RegEx to filter, one needs to write the RegEx based on the Raw Trap Varbind and the Trap message may not be in the same format in the visible trap viewer.

A good method to get this information is to have the Trap emailed to you and those results should be used as the basis of the RegEx.

There may be plenty of times where the Trap message in the Trap viewer is sufficient.
