Overview

When trying to display topology for Arista devices on Orion Maps, the LLDP connections are not displayed although they are available in the database.

Environment

  • Orion Platform monitoring Arista nodes with LLDP connections

Cause

By default, only connections that have a managed interface on both sides of the connection are displayed on Orion Maps.

Resolution

By default, only connections that have a managed interface on both sides of the connection are displayed on Orion Maps. Source interface in LLDP connections is assigned based on port ID or interface index. Make sure the information is set correctly on the device.

As a workaround, you can configure Orion Maps to display connections that do not have a managed interface on both sides of the connection:

  1. Go to global settings at [hostname]/orion/admin/advancedconfiguration/global.aspx/.
  2. Find the ShowL2Unknowns setting and select the box.

Orion Maps now also display connections that do not have a managed interface on its both ends.
