Old alert variables do not resolve after services restart

Overview

After Alerting Service V2 restarts, older alert variables, such as ${Ip_Address} or ${Caption}, no longer resolve when the action is repeated.

Environment

Any product running on SolarWinds Orion Platform 2017.1 or later, such as:

  • NPM 12.1
  • SAM 6.4

Detail

SolarWinds recommends converting to the variable format introduced with SolarWinds Orion Platform 2015.1 at your earliest convenience.

For example, change ${Caption} to ${N=SwisEntity;M=Caption}.
