Migrate a SolarWinds server with High Availability

Overview

This article explains how to migrate ALL SolarWinds Polling Engines and their High Availability pool members.

Environment

  • Any SolarWinds Orion Platform version with High Availability

Steps

  1. Back up your Orion Platform database to avoid data loss.
  2. Verify that HA is disabled by running the following commands on the existing SolarWinds primary server:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\HAEnableDisable.exe /DisableHA
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\HAEnableDisable.exe /Disablepool
  3. Migrate your Orion Platform products to a new server using the same IP and hostname
    OR
    Migrate your Orion Platform products to a new server with a new IP and hostname
  4. Remove all orphaned High Availability records in the SolarWinds database.
  5. RDP to the SolarWinds Application server.
  6. Stop all SolarWinds services using the Orion Service Manager.
  7. Open Database Manager.
  8. Execute the following query:
    delete from ha_audit
    delete from ha_facilitiesinstances
    delete from ha_poolmembers
    delete from ha_pools
    delete from ha_resourcesinstances
    delete from ha_poolmemberInterfacesinfo
  9. Start all SolarWinds services using the Orion Service Manager.
  10. Install the High Availability Standby.
