Job Engine V2 Service stops immediately

This article addresses the issue when the Job Engine V2 immediately stops after the service was started, and the BusinessLayerHost.log contains errors similar to the following:


FATAL SolarWinds.JobEngine.ServiceProcess.SolarWindsService - (null)      Unhandled exception caught

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

File name: 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91'

   at SolarWinds.JobEngine.Data.SqlCeHelper.Verify()


Windows component is not installed or removed During install or upgrade rolled out on the server


  • Orion Platform, all versions


  1. Go to C:\Programdata\Solarwinds\Installers.
  2. Search for SSCERuntime_x86-ENU.msi.
  3. Right click on SSCERuntime_x86.msi and select install.
  4. Right click on SSCERuntime_x64.msi and select install.
  5. Restart Orion Services.
  6. Verify that Job Engine V2 is up and running without issue.
