InformationService.log displays a SolarWinds.Alerting.Service.exe error

A message similar to the following is recorded in the ./v3.0/ InformationService.log file:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Divide by zero error encountered. 


  • All Orion versions


The alert cannot be evaluated properly.


  1. Look in the ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion\Alerting.Service.V2.log file to locate and disable the alert that could be causing the problem.
  2. Verify that the message is cleared.
    If the error is not cleared:
    1. Recreate the alert from scratch.
    2. Build the alert condition to narrow down the location of the problem.
