Orion Web Console error: no endpoint listening at net.tcp

Error: There was no endpoint listening at net.tcp://localhost:17777/SolarWinds/InformationService/Orion/ssl that could accept the message.

This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.


This error may be the result of either of the following conditions:

  • SolarWinds Information Service is not running.
  • You have created a custom property that has the same name as a reserved property. 
  • Corrupted performance counters. 
    To determine if this is the case, submit a technical support ticket and provide SolarWinds Diagnostics.

  • An incomplete or improper installation of the SolarWinds Information Service (SWIS). This error is usually corrected with a manual reinstallation of the SolarWinds Information Service, as shown in the following procedure.


  • Orion Network Performance Monitor 9.5 and later 


Restart the SolarWinds Information Service.

  1. Start the Orion Service Manager, for example by clicking Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager.
  2. Select the SolarWinds Information Service items, and click Restart.


If the issue persists, manually reinstall the SolarWinds Information Service:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.
  2. Click SolarWinds Information Service, and then click Uninstall or Remove.
  3. Click Yes to confirm removal.
  4. Execute the InformationService.msi.

    By default, the InformationService.msi is located in:

    On older Windows versions, the InformationService.msi may be located in Volume:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\Installers\.

  5. Click Next on the Welcome window of the SolarWinds Information Service Setup wizard.
  6. Accept the terms of the license agreement, and then click Next.
  7. Click Typical, and then click Install to begin installation.
  8. Click Finish to complete the wizard.

The error does not occur any more.
