Table of contents

Updated February 7th, 2017

Overview

It is possible to poll Nodes which use dynamic IP addresses.

Environment

  • NPM 12.x

Steps

  1. In your web console, access a node's properties via "Edit Node"
  2. Check "Dynamic IP Address" and fill in the proper hostname.

You can also do this via the Database Manager

  1. Go to Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Database Manager
  2. Click "Add default server" and expand to your database
  3. Right-click to your database and hit "New Query ..."
  4. Copy and paste the SQL query below replacing namehere with the name of the node.
UPDATE NodesData SET DynamicIP = 1 WHERE Caption = 'namehere'

Note:

If you need to enable dynamic IP across multiple nodes en masse then make sure that the nodes selected have the same polling method. The easiest way to do this is to go to the manage nodes page and group by polling method.
