Overview

An HTTP 500 error was returned with a new NPM and Orion Platform installation and a new database deployment. 

Environment

  • Orion Platform, all versions

Cause 

  • Corrupted IIS configuration
  • Anti-virus software

Resolution

  1. Uninstall Web Server IIS via Server Manager under Server Roles.

  2. Uninstall Windows Process Activation Service via Server Manager under Features.
  3. Reboot the server.
  4. Go to C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv and cut the inetsrv folder and paste it to desktop for backup.
  5. Install Web Server IIS and Windows Process Activation Service again. This recreates the inetsrv folder.
  6. Stop or Disable all anti-virus services.
  7. Re-run the Configuration Wizard as Admin.
