This internal-only article describes five types of logs to check when starting to troubleshoot an Orion issue. 


  • All Orion products


To begin troubleshooting an Orion Platform product, check these five logs first. For more complete troubleshooting guidelines and details about additional logs, see Orion Core Troubleshooting Guide - Reporting Issues


  1. Website logs:
  • c:\programdata\solarwinds\Information Service\*.log
  • c:\programdata\solarwinds\log\orion\orionweb.log


  1. Module Engine/Business Layer logs that serve as primary links to SQL:
  • c:\programdata\solarwinds\logs\orion\*buspinesslayer.log


  1. SQL database log
  • C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion\swdebugmaintenance.log


  1. Collector logs that serve as primary links to SQL
  • C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Collector\*.logs


  1. Job Engines
  • C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\JobEngine.v2\*.log


Note: Underlying dependencies include Network Stats, MSMQ, RabbitMQ, and .NET Framework.
