Exclude A Specific Alert from the Report "Alerts Triggered in the Last 24 Hours"

This article discusses how a user can exclude a specific alert from the report "Alerts Triggered in the Last 24 Hours".

At present, it is not possible to select the parameter "EventID" or AlertID" in order to exclude a specific Alert from the report using the GUI. However, you can workaround this by using an SQL Query as detailed in the steps below.

  • NPM 12.0+
  • SAM 6.2.4+

As a workaround, this can be done by using a SQL Query such as Query 1 detailed here.

Query 1:

SELECT * FROM [dbo].[AlertHistoryView]
Where EventTypeWord like '%Triggered%' And AlertID <> 148
And Timestamp >= DATEADD(day, -1, GETDATE())

The above pulls all Triggered Alerts from the AlertHistoryView for the past 24 hours but excludes the AlertID 148 as an example.

In order to get the AlertID related to the alert that you want to exclude, simply log into the Solarwinds Server:

- Open database manager

- Click Add Default Server

- Right click the Solarwinds Database > Select New Query

- Paste the contents of Query 2:

Query 2:

SELECT AlertID, Name FROM [dbo].[AlertConfigurations]
Where name like '%Node is down%'

* Please change "Node is down" of Query 2 to the name of the alert which you want to exclude from your report : e.g. '%YourAlert%' *

-  Note the AlertID in the first column, and input this number into Query 1 above in place of 148.

To create the custom SQL report

- Log into the Orion Web Console

- Settings > Manage Reports

- Create new report

- Select Custom Table

- Change the drop down for Selection Method to Advanced Database Query (SQL, SWQL)

- Select SQL from the radio buttons

- Paste the contents of Query 1 above into the box & click add to layout

- Add the relevant columns which you would like displayed in the report and save changes
