Updated Jan 28, 2019

Overview

When running the configuration wizard, several errors are encountered.  The below are a few sample errors:

  • Website configuration failed:     •      •  Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\AddNode\SolarWinds.Orion.AddNode.Strings.dll' is denied.
  • Website configuration failed:     •      •  Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\AgentManagement\Microsoft.AspNet.SignalR.Core.dll' is denied.
  • Website configuration failed:    •      •  Access to the path 'E:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SolarWinds.AgentManagement.Contract.dll' is denied.

Environment

  • All Orion Platforms

Cause

  • The configuration wizard is lacking administrative rights in executing/performing updates for the files installed on the server
  • The affected DLL file is currently used by the SolarWinds services.
  • Another user is currently login to the Orion server causes the SolarWinds services unable to stop properly.

Resolution

  • Make sure to use a LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR account and not just a DOMAIN ADMINISTRATOR account.
  • Ensure that all the SolarWinds services have been stopped.
  • Ensure that no other user is login to the Orion server. If yes, disconnect the user and re-run the configuration wizard.
  • Reboot the server and re-run the configuration wizard.
