Overview

This article provides information about Orion and MS SQL server backups.

Environment

  • NPM v10.4.x and later and associated Core versions and later

Detail

NPM does not have the feature to perform SQL database backups. It will not perform them for the customer at any point, be it installed, or during normal use. During installation, the system specifically asks the user to type "YES" to confirm they have created a back upof  the database on their own.

During normal use, database maintenance is run, but this merely summarizes data and defragments if enabled - no backup task is performed.

Database manager did previously contain a backup mechanism, but it was not reliable and was removed from the version introduced in NPM v10.4.
