Database configuration failed: Error while executing script- Cannot insert the value NULL into column IsGroupOfEntity, table Bozz Orion.dbo.LimitationTypes; column does not allow nulls

Table of contents

Issue:

While installing NPM, the Configuration Wizard fails during the database configuration part with the error:

Error while executing script- Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'IsGroupOfEntity', table 'Bozz_Orion.dbo.LimitationTypes'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails

Cause:

The IsGroupOfEntity column of LimitationType is not allowing NULL values may be the cause of the database configuration failure.

Resolution:

Follow the steps to change the default setting to allow NULL values:

  1. Click Start > All Programs > SQL Management Studio > Tools > Options > Designers, the Table Options are displayed.
  2. Un-check the option Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation.
  3. Click on the plus sign to expand the Orion database tree.
  4. Right-click LimitationType, and then click Design.
  5. Enable Allow Nulls options for IsGroupOfEntity.
  6. Run Configuration Wizard again - How to Run Configuration Wizard.
  7. Click Tools > Options > Designers > Table Options, and then check the option Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation.

Applies to Version: NPM v11.0 and later.
