This article shows how to create an Alert for OSPF neighbor is DOWN.

Environment

  • Orion Platform, all versions

Steps

Creating an Alert for OSPF neighbor is DOWN:

  1. Log in to the Orion Console.
  2. Go to Alerts & Activity > Alerts.
  3. Click Manage Alerts.
  4. Create a new Alert and name it OSPF Neighbor is DOWN alert.1a.png
  5. Set Trigger condition. The example below will apply to all monitored nodes with OSPF Neighbors.

  6. Create Trigger actions like email notification and log to NetPerfMon event log.

    Netperfmon Event Log Action Details:

     

    (Name of Action)

    NetPerfMon Event Log : The neighbor ${N=SwisEntity;M=NeighborIP} on Node ${N=SwisEntity;M=Router.Nodes.Caption} went down.

     

    (Message to send to Network Performance Monitor Event Log)

     

    The neighbor ${N=SwisEntity;M=NeighborIP} on Node ${N=SwisEntity;M=Router.Nodes.Caption} went down.

    Email Action Details:

     

    (Name of action)

    OSPF Neighbor is DOWN email alert

     

    (Recipients)

    ……Your call….

     

    (Message Subject)

    The neighbor ${N=SwisEntity;M=NeighborIP} on Node ${N=SwisEntity;M=Router.Nodes.Caption} went down.

     

    (Message Body)

    Node Name: ${N=SwisEntity;M=Router.Nodes.Caption}

     

    Neighbor IP address: ${N=SwisEntity;M=NeighborIP}

     

    Protocol Name: ${N=SwisEntity;M=ProtocolName}

     

    Protocol Status: ${N=SwisEntity;M=ProtocolStatusDescription}

     

    Date and time: ${N=Generic;M=DateTime;F=DateTime}

  7. Save the alert.
