Create an alert from multiple universal device pollers

This article describes how to create an alert using information from multiple universal device pollers. This article assumes that you created and assigned several universal device pollers to nodes. 


  • All Orion Environments


Create or use a custom property to identify the nodes you want to assign to this alert.

  1. Click Settings > All Settings > Manage Alerts.
  2. Click Add A New Alert. 
  3. Complete the Alert Properties fields, and then click Next. 
  4. Click the I want to alert on drop-down menu and select Custom Node Poller.
  5. Under The scope of alert, select Only following set of objects. 
  6. Perform the following steps on the All objects where line.
    1. In the first drop-down menu, select node.
    2. In the next drop-down menu, select the name of the custom property.
    3. In the third drop-down menu select is equal to.  
    4. In the last field, enter the custom property value.
  7. In The actual trigger condition row, change the AND block to OR.
  8. Delete row below the OR block
  9. Click ( + ) and select Add And/Or block and leave at AND.
  10. Click the first drop-down menu and select Custom node poller.
  11. In the second drop-down menu select Unique name.
  12. In the third drop-down menu select is equal to.
  13. In the fourth field, enter the name of the first custom poller.
  14. Click the left ( + ), select Add And/Or block, and select AND.
  15. Repeat steps 9 through step 13 as required.
    The alert should be similar the following illustration:
  16. Continue editing the alert by configuring the rest condition, time of day, trigger actions and reset actions.

The Summary page will not indicate which node is triggering the alert. It will only tell you which universal device poller's condition was met by the value you set in the trigger condition.
