Configure Kiwi Syslogs to forward a Trap to your Orion server for testing or troubleshooting

Overview

This article gives a brief overview on how to configure Kiwi Syslogs to forward a Trap to your Orion server for testing or troubleshooting, using Kiwi Syslog Generator.

 

Note: The forward Syslog as a Trap Rule is only available in the paid for version of Kiwi Syslog Server http://www.solarwinds.com/kiwi-syslog-server.aspx. A fully functional 14-day trial is available.

Steps

  1. Install the Kiwi Syslog Generator. 
  2. Forward Syslogs to the Kiwi Syslog Server.
  3. Open the Kiwi Syslog Service Manager.  Go to File > Setup.
  4. Under Rules, right-click Action > Add action.
  5. From the Actions menu on the right, select Send SNMP Trap.
  6. Customize the trap Template as You Wish.
  7. Under Destination Host, specify the Orion Server. Traps will now be forwarded to the Orion Server.
