CommVault backup fails on the Orion server

When you back up the Orion server using a CommVault® backup solution, the backup fails and generates event ID 8193 and event ID 513: Invalid security structure.



  • NPM 12.1 and higher


  • Invalid entry inside the following registry subtree
  • Volume Shadow Copy service
  • CommVault



  • Install Microsoft® Update KB2807849 for Windows Server 2012

Based on research by SolarWinds, this issue is not caused by a SolarWinds application. See the following links to troubleshoot the event IDs.
