Changing the communication method to an Orion agent generates an error

Updated November 29, 2018

Overview

When managing agent nodes in the Orion Web Console, there is an option to change how the Orion Platform communicates with the agent (server-initiated or agent-initiated). When you change this option and then connect to an agent, the following error message displays:

IP address or hostname must be valid. Actual address: SERVER_HOSTNAME

Environment

  • Orion Platform

Cause

The Orion server cannot resolve the IP address of the target's hostname where the agent is originally installed.

Resolution

Contact your DNS administrator to ensure that the Orion Platform server can resolve the IP address of the target's hostname using NSLOOKUP.
