Overview

This article provides steps on how to change your Orion Website port binding.

Environment

NPM version 11.5.x

Steps

** Before making changes to IIS and the Database please shut down all the Orion Services using the Orion Service Manager **

  1. Navigate to 'Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager' which can be found in the Administrative Tools or by searching for 'IIS' at the start menu.
  2. Expand your server listed on the left to view the 'Application Pools' and 'Sites'.
  3. Expand 'Sites' and highlight and right click your Orion website and select 'Edit Bindings...'
  4. When the Site Bindings box appears you can highlight the port you want to change and with the port highlighted select 'Edit...'
  5. Here on the Edit Site Binding box is where we change the port to your preference. Please note that if you select a port that requires SSL you need to select a certificate to use as well. Hit OK when you change the port.

Now that we have the port in IIS changed it's now time to change the port to match in the Database.

  1. Open the Database Manager and select 'Add default server'. The default location for the Database Manager is located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion.
  2. Expand your Orion Database and navigate to the 'Websites' table. Right click the table and select 'Query table...'.
  3. You will see the following query appear in the box at the top of the screen 'SELECT TOP 1000 * FROM [dbo].[Websites]' and you will hit the 'Execute query' button.
  4. From this table you can edit the WebsiteID, ServerName, IPAddress, Port, SSLEnabled, and Type. We will be selecting the button at the top that says 'Enable table editing.'
  5. Double click the entry under 'Port' and switch this to match the port of IIS from our previous steps. If you changed the port to one that requires SSL like 443 for example you will also want to enable SSL by editing the entry under 'SSLEnabled' from 0 which is disabled to a 1 for enable.
  6. Once the changes have been made, execute the 'SELECT TOP 1000 * FROM [dbo].[Websites]' query again to make sure the changes applied successfully.

Now that we have updated the port bindings for IIS and the Website you can turn the Orion Services back on and you should now be able to access the website under the new port binding.
