Overview

This article describes recommendations, tips and warnings when applying Windows updates to a SolarWinds server.

Detail

The best practice for applying unknown or new updates is to apply the update in a test environment. However, this is not always possible with Orion due to licensing issues. The general recommendation is to backup or snapshot the server before conducting any type of Windows update in the event that it affects the Orion application and/or worst, affect the server itself.

 

Please also be aware that we do not any way to prepare for possible changes or bugs introduced in the course of Microsoft's release schedule.  However, we will be happy to work with you to resolve any possible issues that may arise due to Windows updates.  In the event of such an issue, we kindly request that you open a ticket with SolarWinds Technical Support.
