Detail

Before applying an Windows Update to any server that SolarWinds uses, Polling Engines, WebServer, FlowStorage Database or SQL database you need to do the below.

  1. Stop All SolarWinds services on all Servers.
  2. Perform the Windows Updates.
    1. Note if a reboot is required you may need to restop services as they are automatic and will start on reboot.
  3. Once done with Windows Updates on all servers then you can Start all SolarWinds services on all servers.

This is due to the fact that we leverage a lot of Windows services and while they are being changed/paused etc to ensure they upgrade properly and our services do not freeze our services should be stopped.
