APE install fails and generates an error

When you install an Additional Polling Engine and run the Configuration Wizard, the wizard displays the following error message: 

Website Configuration Failed: Connection to SolarWinds BusinessLayer Service 
did not succeed. Last error: No valid connection information received for a 
service 'ServiceID: CoreBusinessLayer, ServiceLogicalInstanceId: engine: XX, 
ServiceInstancePropertyFilters: isLocal-True, isStreamed-False'.


  • Orion Platform 2018.2 and later


The license is not activated in the Web Console License Manager.


  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console. 
  2. Go to Settings > All Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Details section and click License Manager.
  4. Click Add/Upgrade License and enter the License key that need to be activated.

    The Assigned to Host Name of the newly-activated license should be the server that is hosting the APE.

  5. Run the Configuration Wizard again.
