File existence monitor error: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request

Overview

The article describes what to do if you get this error for file existence monitors using SAM:

There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.

Environment

  • Orion Platform, all versions

Cause 

This occurs because of DNS or host file issues on the node/server side.

Resolution

SolarWinds recommends adding the target node to the host file of your Orion polling engine that is assigned to poll the node as a troubleshooting step to see if it helps. Also, adding the Orion poller IP to your host's host file might help as well. This could help bypass the DNS issue on the monitor.
